Money And AI Never Sleep So Prepare For A Busy 2025
đđ Happy New YearâŠ
Weâre excited to be back making content.
2024 was an incredible year. Markets were hot. Politics was volatile and the world dealt with significant trauma.
In 2025, we donât expect this volatility to slow down. Money and AI never sleep so prepare for a busy 2025
Our annual predictions newsletter is often the most popular of the year. And Itâs always fun to spend time thinking about the future and year ahead.
While most of the following predictions wont happen, Itâs certainly a fun and worthwhile exercise to take a run at predicting and reviewing your ability to call the future.
2025 Predictions:
We at RM are trend followers at our core. We think the biggest trend in 2025 is going to be technology that powers long-term breakthroughs, while also powering short term trends in our culture. Think entertainment, speculation and degeneracy - the things that are an offshoot of all this new rapid deployment era of technology.
The year 2024 saw a complete barbell on the risk spectrum - thanks to technology and the USA culture - with people trading off one second memecoin charts (the edge of the âdegenerate economyâ) and moonshot investors from Silicon Valley moving into the White House.
While our new bosses are in many ways the same as the old bosses, we are hopeful that curious and patient people coming into office are better than the bankers and bureaucrats we have grown up with.
On to the predictions!
2025 is going to be the year of FSD (full self driving). I think the implications of FSD could be on the same level as Chat GPT in 2023. The FSD improvements have been significant.
AMZN Joins Apple, Nvidia and MSFT in the 3T club. This will be driven by margin improvements in their delivery and 1P/3P businesses. The major driver over the coming 2 years will be their Tranium/Bedrock platform which is set to compete and drive new business to AWS. In 2019, AWS was a $35B business line. in 2024, it broached $120B.
Meme Coin trading accelerates in 2025.
Trump fails to economically force Canada to become the â51st Stateâ.
CAD/USD closes by 10% due to renewed optimism around the election of a conservative majority mandate
End to End booking services take over our travel management. A-gentic AI or Augmented general intelligence will arrive in 2025 and as a result will begin to show its powers organizing our travel and email.
Robots Everywhere - In the operating rooms and the streets. Innovation and consumer robotics accelerates in 2025. The world inches closer to I Robot.
Mergers, Acquisitions and IPOS - The resignation of Lina Khan results in a financial boom for financiers, investment bankers and market makers.
The continued BOOM in thrift culture sends retail stocks down even more in 2025. - Gen Z/A are all about making smart choices with their clothing purchases. Reuse platforms and thrifting is the next wave. Retail stocks like LULU, NKE etc require top line revenue growth to justify their multiples. For them to see a resurgence, they need to reinvigorate the consumer. The sub 30 demographic isnât interested in consumerism like Gen X and the Millennial culture once was.
It used to be that money never slept, but in 2025 it is money and AI that will not sleep. It is a combination that will create much market, work, labor, even geographic chaos and opportunity for the deepest of pockets and the smallest of wallets.
